The main goal consists of offering medical assistance to the wounded. At a visit to the ministry one naturally notices the large number of wounded and war-torn people who walk in and out.
The ministry is located in a building that used to belong to a family member of the Gaddafi regime. The tent in front of the pool (very style-conscious; with its very own desert sand inside the tent) tells of other times. That was just already all: inside, reigns busy hustle and bustle.
The appointment took place together with the Austrian company VAMED, which is successfully working in Libya since a decade.
But now nobody, from the ministry’s side, wants to involve themselves with companies. Because in the last few weeks the scales have been tipping with every contract, no matter how small the expenditure, very high.
Not long ago the Tripoli City Council bought phone credit to re-fill the pre-paid mobile phones worth approx. EUR 1.000. Shortly after, this brought about loud protests outside the headquarters of the municipal government. Therefore, it should not wonder when everybody shies away from larger contracts, as they don’t want to burn their fingers.
Additionally, there are another 2.000 wounded (special cases) waiting for treatment. Ideally in Austria… or so, the Martyrministry wishes.Yuri Fenopetovhttps://twitter.com/#!/YuriFenopetovnoreply@blogger.com
