Revolution memories: So many things happened in and around the Red Castle adjacent to Martyrs Square (formerly known as Green Square). Today it seems as nothing had happened: The lagoon in front of the castle has been emptied, completely cleaned and refilled with water again. It had become kind of stinky. However, I was a bit surprised about the timing of the cleaning: It happened exactly on the anniversary of the revolution: On 17 February 2012, thousands of people were celebrating on Martyr´s square, while some workers were working on cleaning up the artificial lagoon in front of it.
For those who have not visited it yet: The castle hosts one of the touristic attractions of Libya, a real gem, the national museum.
